ASEC 2025 Panel Moderated by Arctic Energy Office Director Erin Whitney

ASEC Wrap up

This year’s Alaska Sustainable Energy Conference (ASEC), which took place June 3-5 in Anchorage, Alaska, focused on the future of energy in Alaska and the world, as well as the impact of AI and the resulting explosion of demand from data centers, advances in energy storage, advanced nuclear options, and transmission, in addition to discussions on how to best make use of Alaska’s fossil fuel and mineral deposits.

It was preceded by a 1-day panel with National Lab representatives, moderated by our Director, Erin Whitney (see photo above), and was also attended by a number of Department of Energy officials, including DOE Secretary Chris Wright, Arctic Energy’s Mike McEleney, as well as other DOE office representatives (see photos below).

They heard from the Mayor of Utqiagvik about the power of cooperation, the ability of the community to get things done, and from the the North Slope Borough on their appreciation for meaningful engagement in the region. Watch this video to learn more.
