World War 1

World War I or the First World War, the Great War, or the “War to End All Wars”, was a global conflict which lasted from 1914 to 1918, and is considered one of the deadliest conflicts in history.

World War 2 

World War II or the Second World War, was a world war that lasted from 1939 to 1945. It involved the vast majority of the world’s countries: the Allies and the Axis powers. It was a total war that directly involved more than 100 million personnel from more than 30 countries.

Early Territory Days

The Aleutian Campaign

The Aleutian Islands campaign was a military campaign conducted by the United States, Canada, and Japan in the Aleutian Islands, part of the Territory of Alaska, in the American Theater and the Pacific Theater of World War II starting on June 3, 1942.

The Tuskegee Airmen

The Tuskegee Airmen group of African American military pilots and airmen who fought in World War II. They formed the 332d Fighter Group and the 477th Bombardment Group of the United States Army Air Forces.

The Korean War

The Korean War was fought between North Korea and South Korea from 1950 to 1953. North Korea was supported by China and the Soviet Union while South Korea was supported by the United States and allied countries. The fighting ended with an armistice on 27 July, 1953.

The Vietnam War

The Vietnam War was a conflict in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from 1 November, 1955 to the fall of Saigon on 30 April, 1975. It was the second of the Indochina Wars and an important war for the US.

Women in the Military

There have been women in the United States Army since the Revolutionary War, and women continue to serve in it today. As of 2020, there were 74,592 total women on active duty in the US Army, with 16,987 serving as officers and 57,605 enlisted.
